Covers and Conventions
Come see the final cover for W&M #2! A variant cover, and where to find us to tell us we are awesome in person.
Hey,
Welcome back!
All I gotta say is… if you have seen Deadpool don’t spoil it for me!
It looks so good. But, alas, I’m on an overtime binge right now. So I just have to avoid all internet for like two weeks. Easily doable, right?!
We know what you’ve come for!
The MAYHEM!
Or, maybe, another variant cover?
This one by John Muller with colors by yours truly.
John is a super talented local artist that we met at White Dragon comics for FCBD a few years ago. Since then, John has put out a bi-yearly magazine featuring many of the local talent of the area. Watching John draw is crazy, and we couldn’t wait to get him on board for a variant!
He was kind enough to leave me a blank canvas to have some fun with, too!
Somewhere along the line I had an idea to use a DnD battle map as the background base. I purchased some tundra maps and tried a few out. I had to add the hex grid, a little extra winter-y textures and BOOM! A winter feeling cover.
Where can you get this cover?!
Well, I’m glad you asked!
The Kickstarter launches on August 2nd! If you didn’t sign up for the pre-launch notification email you can do that here!
Day one support goes a long way to help the campaign. It helps the book get in the Kickstarter algorithm to potentially get it in front of new people’s eyes. As independent creators, this goes a long way.
We hope to see you there!
And if we fund day one we plan to make another early backer story with some prompts that the backers can choose. (I’m gonna also encourage you to make some comments of ideas you wanna see. IMPROV this comic!) (Also, we love both puzzles and challenges… make it fun!)
John and I will be attending the Lehigh Valley Comic Con at:
LEHIGH CARBON COMMUNITY COLLEGE (LCCC)
MAIN CAMPUS
COMMUNITY SERVICES CENTER 4525 EDUCATION PARK DR. SCHNECKSVILLE, PA 18078
We have done this show a few times. The summer ones usually go pretty well, and it’s gonna be the first show we have Wurst & Mayhem at! If you’re in the area come by and say hello!
And if you happen to do that with a coffee, we will be bestest friends forever.
In all seriousness, we love doing conventions and look forward to these all the time. I also need to practice pitching the book so John doesn’t have to do it every single podcast. But, damn, is he good at it.
If seeing our lovely faces once wasn’t enough for you, we will also be at White Dragon comics in Tannersville on August 14!
This is book signing event. You’re stuck with just us.
We will be hanging out at the store all day to hang out talk about our books, every book, John can cover Star Trek every season, and I got you for how cool Hollow Knight is and that we may never see the sequel.
I’m really looking forward to it!
So for class I finished up the cover! I mean, we sorta needed it for the Kickstarter.
When I did my value studies, I did them how I think of value every time. More or less like puzzle pieces that each have their own value.
When the instructor went over my piece it was different. He covered areas in the same value, bringing them together to more of a whole composition. Maybe this sounds obvious, but I’ve never approached it that way before.
The main area is the golem. His hands, large part of his torso, and the whirlwind are all a similar value. I would have had them all different, but blocking them together pushes the eye to the face and has a nice effect of moving through the composition.
I haven’t been able to turn in for feedback because of work. But I’m imagining it will go pretty well.
With the logo and other trade dress, you’re gonna miss out on the magic fire coming off the golems back. I talked to John, and I convinced him to have a limited metal variant! You get all the art… and it’s metal shiny! Just like a real life treasure golem!
I think that’s how that works.
Coming Soon

Stay Creative!
